Postgame Observations: Bengals Never Trail in 24-18 Win Over Bills on Sunday Night Football

Cincinnati has won four straight games.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bengals got off to a hot start and never looked back in Sunday's 24-18 win over the Bills.

Joe Burrow led the way with 348 yards and two touchdowns and Lou Anarumo's opportunistic defense forced multiple turnovers and kept Josh Allen in check for most of the night.

The Bengals improve to 5-3 on the season. They've won four-straight games.

Here are our postgame observations:

Fast Start

The Bengals won the coin toss and opted to take the ball to start the game.

Burrow led them on a 9-play, 76 yard drive that ended with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Irv Smith Jr.

Burrow completed all six of his passes on the drive for 65 yards.

The Bills quickly answered with a touchdown drive of their own, but Burrow and the Bengals' offense quickly responded.

Cincinnati went on an 11-play, 54-yard drive that ended with a two-yard touchdown run by Joe Mixon.

Burrow completed passes to seven different players on their first two drives of the game, including two tight ends: Tanner Hudson and Smith.

Tight End Night

The Bengals' tight ends made an impact early in the game on Sunday night. Smith caught the touchdown on the opening drive. Tanner Hudson had three receptions in the first half and Drew Sample had a 22-yard catch and run for a touchdown late in the second quarter.

The trio combined for nine receptions, 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Tee Time

Tee Higgins finished with eight catches for 110 yards on nine targets. The 24-year-old looked like his normal self, making contested catches in traffic throughout the game.

It was Higgins' first 100-yard game of the season. He looks close to 100% after suffering a fractured rib earlier this year.

Turnover Battle

The Bengals defense forced two turnovers on Sunday night, including a forced fumble by Germaine Pratt early in the fourth quarter with the Bills in the red zone.

Pratt punched the ball out of Dalton Kincaid's arms and Nick Scott made the recovery.

The turnover prevented the Bills from scoring early in the fourth quarter and allowed Cincinnati to keep a 21-10 lead. The Bengals drove downfield and kicked a field goal to extend their lead following the fumble recovery.

Cam Taylor-Britt had his third interception of the season in the first half.

Penalties

The Bengals were called for six penalties, including three that prevented them from getting points following Taylor-Britt's interception. They advanced to the Bills' 23-yard line, but their drive stall thanks to delay of game, holding and false start penalties.

Up Next

The Bengals play the Texans on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. ET at Paycor Stadium. They hit the road four days later to play the Ravens in Baltimore on Nov. 16.
