Cleveland Browns Land in Interesting Spot in These Post-Draft Power Rankings

There is still work to do for the Cleveland Browns if they want to climb the ladder.
In this story:

With the NFL Draft now in the past for this year, Sports Illustrated has released some post-draft power rankings for the NFL. On this list, the Cleveland Browns come in at No. 18, a non-playoff team in other words in these rankings.

The Cincinnati Bengals (3rd) and Baltimore Ravens (7th) are the two AFC North teams ahead of the Browns. Connor Orr has the Steelers as the 21st team in these rankings.

Cleveland just selected seven players in the draft, while picking up an extra pick next year. WR Cedric Tillman out of Tennessee led the Browns’ picks, coming off the board in the third round at pick No. 74.

“My favorite pick of their truncated draft (seven picks, none in the first two rounds) was Siaki Ika, the nose tackle from Baylor. The Browns needed more space eaters this offseason, hence paying Dalvin Tomlinson a premium price tag in free agency. Ika might not play right away, but he could round into the kind of quintessential AFC North player the Browns have been craving over the past few years,” Orr said.

Cleveland has now made it through the thick of free agency, as well as the draft. They have a firm idea of what their team will look like in 2023, with just a few possible pieces left to add to round out the roster.

It is acceptable to think the Browns are going to add another running back since they tried to trade for D’Andre Swift before he landed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Cleveland did bring in undrafted free agent Hassan Hall, and he may a good shot at making the running back room with Nick Chubb and Jerome Ford.

A third safety is another spot where the Browns may look to add another player. Cleveland did not draft one but instead signed Ronnie Hickman, an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State. Like Hall, Hickman may have a legit shot at making the roster.

For now, Cleveland may be getting placed in the bottom half of league rankings you see on the internet. That is going to be the case until the Browns perform and QB Deshaun Watson proved he can return to his pre-suspension form.
