CINCINNATI — We are fast approaching the start of high school football season throughout the country, a perfect time to check in on the Bearcats' standing in the 2022 recruiting rankings.

ESPN recently updated its top 25, and Cincinnati slipped two spots to No. 22 since the last roundup.

"The Bearcats are showing they are ready for a move to the Big 12 with their play on the field and their ability to recruit among the better classes in the country," Craig Haubert wrote. "ESPN 300 defender McCullough is a DB with nice size and quick feet who can be a physical presence. Four-star LB Trevor Carter was a big in-state win, and interior OL Evan Tengesdahl was another strong, home-state pickup, as he took home positional MVP honors this spring at the Under Armour camp in Ohio. Khamari Anderson can be a productive target in the passing game, as he is a smooth runner with good hands. High three-star RB Covey can be a versatile player, as he possesses great ball skills and can be a productive receiving target out of the backfield."

Cincinnati could add to its 21 total commits later this month with four-star defensive end Jalen Thompson on Aug. 22, but the talent is highly-favored to land with Michigan State. According to On3, MSU has a 94.8% chance of signing him.

Around the rest of the services, UC is still holding steady in the top 25 nationally: Sports Illustrated (No. 15), On3 (No. 23), 247Sports (No. 19), and Rivals (No. 16), all still have UC highly-ranked. Those five spots come out to an average spot of 19th nationally.
