Ahmad Gardner Selected by New England Patriots in Latest Mock Draft
CINCINNATI — Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner isn't missing from many NFL mock drafts, and he made another appearance on PFF's latest mock. Analyst Eric Eager took a crack at the draft board this week and he has Gardner heading to New England to start his career with Bill Belichick and Patriots.
Gardner went at pick No. 22, while Desmond Ridder wasn't selected in the first-round projection.
"J.C. Jackson has been one of the most productive players in football in 2021," Eager said in his explanation for the pick. "And as a result, he might be gone from Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots at the top of his market. Gardner would be a more than adequate replacement; he was a linchpin in the Bearcats’ first-ever College Football Playoff appearance and has yet to give up a touchdown his entire college career."
Gardner has a massive challenge (and opportunity) in front of him on New Year's Eve. The cornerback will see plenty of Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams, who Eager slated at pick No. 18 to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Eager had four quarterbacks going in the first 16 picks, but Ridder wasn't a part of the group.
