CINCINNATI — The Bearcats athletic community is mourning the loss of Brent Petrus this week. Petrus, 46, passed away on Sunday after a bout with epilepsy.

He was a scholarship player on the football team and appeared in 31 games for the 1997-98 basketball squad led by Bob Huggins. He averaged 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

In football, Petrus played quarterback for three years and tight end during his senior season. He ended his career 20-of-41 passing for 302 yards and four touchdowns.

Petrus touched many parts of the two most prominent athletic programs at Cincinnati.
