Joe Mixon on Bengals Loss to Texans: 'Best Thing About it is we Get to Play on Thursday'
CINCINNATI — Joe Mixon had a decent showing on the ground in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Texans, but the Bengals still fell short as he continues to be the lone reliable ballcarrier in the NFL's worst running back room.
He knows the team has to have a short memory with a Thursday night game against the Ravens on deck.
"I think the best thing about it is that we get to play on Thursday," Mixon told All Bengals' Elise Jesse. "So we get to turn the page real quick. Get ready for a big divisional game. We all know what's at stake here and just gotta get ready. When it comes down to it, we control our own destiny even to this day, so we got to get ready to turn the page and keep it pushing."
Mixon ran for 46 yards and one score on 11 carries Sunday behind a run-blocking unit that's been up and mostly down all season.
The team ranks 21st in Pro Football Focus's run block grading and is dead last in the NFL with 74.8 rush yards per game. The offense obviously runs through Joe Burrow, but this team was supposed to compete for the AFC's No. 1 seed this season. That's hard to do being this one-dimensional.
