Browns WR Elijah Moore Reflects on Time With Jets

In his introductory press conference, Cleveland Browns newly acquired wide receiver Elijah Moore talked about his NFL career to this point.

A fresh start can sometimes do a person some good. That's what the plan for Elijah Moore has to be when he starts his tenure with the Cleveland Browns. Moore was highly touted out of Ole Miss as a second-round pick. He's produced to a point but a regression in his second year makes some question the trade.

Moore reflected on his time with the New York Jets in his introductory press conference with the Browns.

"I wouldn’t do anything over. I am in a space right now where I feel like everything happens for a reason always," Moore said.

I take it with a grain of salt. If something is happening in my life, I am going to take what I can from it, I am going to capture it and I am going to move forward."

When Moore was drafted by the New York Jets and paired with quarterback Zach Wilson, many were excited for the future of the team. Flash forward and it did not work out for Moore in New York and it hasn't for Wilson to this point. With that being said, things were working against Moore and bad quarterback play was most certainly one of them.

Moore recorded 538 receiving yards in 11 games as a rookie and it got folks excited. In his second season with the Jets in 2022, that number decreased to 446 yards in 16 games played.

At one point, Moore requested a trade from the team. He was unhappy with how he was being utilized to a point and wanted to go in a different direction. Some were not fond of the happening.

“I would not take anything back. Would I have worded some things differently? Yes, but not take anything back. My heart was always in the right spot. I would never move without intention. I am very intentional, especially in a positive way, and I always move with respect. If that is my intentions, I don’t have anything to regret.”

Cleveland has big plans for Moore to be an important part of their offense, he will have to be. The Browns are shaping their roster to use more wide receivers than in years past and it's showing. Moore is in a prime position to be that third option to fourth option pass catcher when you factor in Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones and David Njoku.

During all of that time, Moore explained what he dealt with. What he's learned from those times.

"To be ready for anything. Life is going to throw you obstacles. I feel like what people do not understand is that this is more than just football. We are dealing with people. We are dealing with human beings," Moore explained.

When you deal with stuff like that, people like that, and aspects like that, you have to know that obstacles, differences, and all of that stuff are going to come so you just have to take it with a grain of salt and be ready for anything.”
