The Reds beat the Guardians 5-3 on Sunday afternoon.

This game was headlined by the return of both Nick Lodolo and Matt McLain. It was also headlined by our first look of Jonathan India in the outfield.

Lodolo recorded 3-straight outs to start the game.

Offensively the Reds got going early as India hit a home run over the left center wall. This was India’s first home run of the spring. Star shortstop Elly De La Cruz wasted no time getting a double and stealing third base before a ground out from Jake Fraley gave him the green light to run home to make the score 2-0 Reds early on.

Lodolo had another three-up-three-down inning and got his first strikeout of the spring against Brayan Rocchio.

Lodolo pitched well in his first outing since last May. He didn’t give up a hit or issue a walk in two innings and had one strikeout. line finished with two complete innings, no hits, no walks, no scores, and one strikeout.

Tyler Stephenson extended the Reds lead when he hit a three run homer to make it 5-0.

The Reds’ bullpen gave up a few runs down the stretch, but it was a successful day at the ballpark for David Bell’s crew.
