Cincinnati Reds Reveal Plan for Jonathan India, Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain
The Cincinnati Reds have one of the more crowded infield rotations in Major League Baseball.
Many have wondered what manager David Bell will do with the plethora of infield talent he has on the roster.
Here's a breakdown of the plan for Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain and Jonathan India:
De La Cruz will get the majority of his reps during spring training at shortstop. The talented second-year player had a very impressive rookie season.
De La Cruz has been named as a player to watch out for during his second season and he's expected to make huge strides for Cincinnati after having a promising rookie campaign.
McLain is another talented infielder that's entering his second season in the big leagues.
He was arguably the Reds most impressive rookie and certainly their most consistent. Labeled a "Firecracker" by teammates, he is expected to have a huge pop both at the plate and in the field.
With De La Cruz manning the shortstop spot, McLain will play second base. He'll likely get some time at shortstop, but he's expected to spend most of his time at second base.
What about India? He recently signed a two-year contract extension. Will he be an everyday DH? Will they play him in the outfield?
India is expected to line up all over the place this season. Expect him to play in the outfield, the infield and DH. The former National League Rookie of the Year is clearly in their plans, as he'll try to become another versatile piece on the roster.
