Cincinnati had one of the more impressive rookie bunches in the league last season. Matt McLain was a major part of their success. He's gained the respect of not only fans, but his teammates.

“He’s a fireball. He’s fast, he just plays the game really hard and that’s what I love," Jonathan India said. "He’s dynamic man he does everything right. He’s just a freak talent and he’s exciting to watch.”

McLain posted a .290 batting average last season, finishing with 16 home runs and 50 RBI in 89 games.

“Popeye is what I like to call him. That dude’s got the biggest forearms on the team," Graham Ashcraft said. "He’s another balls to the wall player I mean he goes out and gives everything he’s got. He’s a great dude. It’s fun to watch him play the game. He’s got a good bright future ahead of him.”

Luke Maile issued a similar sentiment about what the future could hold for the 24-year-old.

“Such a bright future man. Like he’s come right into the big leagues and he hasn’t really apologized for being good," Maile said. "He just kind of steps out there and he’s ready to be the best player on the field. He’s not tiptoeing out there. He just goes and makes plays and he has good at-bats.”

McLain has the potential to become one of the best infielders in the league.
