CINCINNATI — Jonathan India continues to make progress and is expected to make his debut on Friday, Reds manager David Bell told reporters on Wednesday.

The former National League Rookie of the Year has been dealing with plantar fasciitis that limited him at the end of last season and impacted his offseason.

The Reds have taken it slow with India in hopes that he'll be 100% by Opening Day.

He's expected to play in the outfield this season. It'll be interesting to see how many in-game reps he gets in the outfield before the regular season begins. He'll also play second base and be the Reds designated hitter at times throughout the year.

Opening Day is on Thursday, March 28 at 4:10 p.m. ET when the Reds play the Nationals at Great American Ballpark.
