CINCINNATI — Nick Krall said the Reds are likely finished making major moves this offseason. They've added key pieces, including Nick Martinez, Frankie Montas and Jeimer Candelario.

Those additions combined with Krall's statement about his plans make a Dylan Cease trade unlikely, but MLB.com recently put together a trade proposal involving the White Sox ace.

Would you make this move if you were the Reds?

Cease Trade Proposal: 2B Jonathan India, RHP Connor Phillips (MLB Pipeline's No. 68 prospect), RHP Chase Petty (Reds’ No. 6 prospect), RHP Lyon Richardson (Reds’ No. 14 prospect)

Ultimately, they believe the Reds would say no to this deal, but it is interesting. It would give Cincinnati an affordable, cost-controlled ace for the next two seasons. They also keep Rhett Lowder in this deal, which is big considering most believe he's the top pitcher in Cincinnati's minor league system.

If the Reds hadn't landed Montas and Martinez, this is a deal that they may have considered. Heck, they could still be in the market for another starting pitcher ahead of the deadline.

But at this point in the offseason, it makes sense to go into the spring training, see how these guys look and get a feel for how good they can be in 2024. The Reds have enough ammo to acquire the right player ahead of the trade deadline if they are true contenders this season.
