Cincinnati Reds Star Hunter Greene Adding Two New Pitches Ahead of 2024 Regular Season
CINCINNATI — The Reds are hoping their entire pitching staff takes a step forward this season. Hunter Greene is a big part of that.
The 24-year-old has flashed his potential over the past two seasons and is hoping to become a legitimate ace this year.
Reds pitching coach Derek Johnson revealed that Greene is adding two pitches to his repertoire: a curveball and a splitter.
This is part of the evolution that every top pitcher goes through.
Greene was the second overall pick by the Reds in the 2017 MLB Draft. It's realistic to think he'll take a big step forward and become a dominant starting pitcher. Adding an effective curveball and splitter would be a big help in his quest to become an ace in the big leagues.
