Report: Reds 'Active' in Free Agency and Trade Market in Search for Starting Pitcher
CINCINNATI — On the day the Reds introduced new infielder Jeimer Candelario, it's important to remember that they aren't finished adding to their roster this offseason.
Cincinnati's hunt for a starting pitcher continues according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
The Reds are open to signing a free agent starter, including Michael Wacha and Lucas Giolito. They've also "checked on" a potential trade involving Guardians ace Shane Bieber.
The Bieber report isn't new. Morosi and others have mentioned the Reds as a potential destination for the former American League Cy Young Award Winner.
Wacha, 32, posted a 3.22 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 24 starts in 134.1 innings. He's pitched at least 124 innings in each of the past three seasons.
Giolito, 29, is a bit younger. He posted a 4.88 ERA in a league leading 33 starts (184.1 innings). He also gave up 41 home runs, which was the most in the MLB. He's pitched at least 161 innings in each of the last three seasons.
