CINCINNATI — The Reds may not be interested in re-signing Joey Votto this offseason, but at least one American League team is interested in the 40-year-old. 

The Los Angeles Angels are interested in Votto and could sign him according to MLB insider Jon Heyman. 

"The Angels are one of the teams in on Joey Votto. I think they like him," Heyman said. "Is he willing to go out there? Could he just be waiting around for hometown Toronto?"

Heyman made it clear that he thought the Blue Jays were also interested in Votto. That's his hometown, so maybe he's hoping to land in Toronto. 

Votto appeared in 2,056 games for the Reds, finishing with 2,135 hits, 1,365 walks, 356 home runs and 1,144 RBI in 17 seasons. He posted a .294 batting average and a .920 OPS. He posted a .202/.314/.433 slash line in 65 games last season.

The Reds declined Votto's $20 million club option for 2024 and bought out the final year of his deal for $7 million in November.
