Cincinnati Reds Trade Daniel Duarte to Texas Rangers
The Cincinnati Reds traded Daniel Duarte to the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash.
Duarte was designated for assignment last week when Brent Suter officially signed with Cincinnati.
Duarte pitched some solid innings for the Reds out of the bullpen last year. He never found the kind of consistency to make him a trustworthy option, but he had flashes of good pitching.
In 31 2/3 innings, he posted a 3.69 ERA. The Reds didn't go all in on that, though, as they saw the strikeout-to-walk ratio and the underlying numbers that said he was lucky. He struck out almost as many batters as he walked and his (Fielding Independent Pitching) said his ERA should have been over 5.00.
This is just another example of why the Reds bullpen has evolved this offseason.
