CINCINNATI — Reds legend Joey Votto is signing with the Blue Jays according to ESPN's Buster Olney. 

The former National League MVP has agreed to a non-roster invite. It's a chance to show the Blue Jays and the rest of the MLB that he still belongs in the big leagues. 

The 40-year-old hadn't received an official offer from a team since the Reds declined his $20 million option in November. 

Votto has been adamant about playing this season.

He appeared in 2,056 career games for the Reds, finishing with 2,135 hits, 1,365 walks, 356 home runs and 1,144 RBI. He posted a .294 batting average and a .920 OPS. He posted a .202/.314/.433 slash line in 65 games last season.
